Faith Baptist Church
History

Our Roots

Faith Baptist Church , was organized with twenty-nine members December 31, 1950, in the home of George Dimock at 1918 Speedway.  During the early days of the church's existence, the members met in different locations including a tent at the corner of Thomas and Abbott.  Even when popular opinion was that Faith Village would never be over "five or six streets big," the church members felt moved of God to purchase the land where their tent stood and erect a brick building.

In 1975 the church purchased seven acres of land at the corner of Southwest Parkway and Rhea Road  to make this her  permanent home.  Through the years,  faith has characterized this church family – not only in name, but also in spirit.

It has persevered through the destruction of its facilities in 1975 by a major fire and the tornado in 1979.  Faith BaptistChurch, because of the grace of God, is truly a church of faith and is moving into the 21st century with a new vision and a renewed faith in God.

On Sunday, March 6, 2005, Faith Baptist Church joined together to break ground for a Family Life Center.  Construction began in April of 2005.  The dedication and opening was Sunday, June 4, 2006.
